Arie grew up in Istanbul, Turkey. He has been part of informal education from a young age as a Madrich and Rosh Chinuch in the Habonim Dror Youth movement and was active in the Turkish Jewish community as a member of the B'nai B'rith youth organisation until he moved to Barcelona in 2004.

Arie has a PhD in Finance from Bocconi University, Milan. Currently, and is an Associate Professor of Finance at Warwick Business School and the BSc Accounting and Finance Course Co-director. He is also a Fellow of the Higher Education Academy.

Arie is passionate about teaching finance, believing in the importance of financial literacy starting from an early age. He has lived in several countries, and been part of different communities (a minority in a predominantly Muslim country, a pupil in a Catholic school, a postgraduate student in Barcelona and Milan, a lecturer in the Midlands, and a husband and father in North West London).
