Etgar is a Jewish education programme that inspires a love of learning among children in Jewish primary schools through an exciting, team-based inter-school quiz for pupils in year 5. Over 1000 children from 29 schools across the UK and a school form Israel participate in the Etgar Challenge. This is the first year that Alma participated and we had a great time.
Usually children in year 5 prepare all year for a quiz that takes place in a large venue that can accommodate 1200 children! Because of lockdown, the quiz moved online and Etgar used the Kahoot app to ask the questions. Year 5 children who were at school as part of the V/KW bubble and children at home all participated. Children were encouraged to send in pictures for a creative challenge. Chloe Frank’s cake made it onto the Etgar video for everyone to see!
There was ‘live’ entertainment and videos from teachers in each of the schools. The questions were quite hard but we all had a great time. Year 4 are already looking forward to Etgar 2021!
