Shavuot Learning Day

On Friday 7th June , we had a really lovely Shavuot learning day, where we learnt all about the Oxford Jewish Community; different denominations of Judaism pray under one roof in their community. We explored the idea of coexistence and diversity within the religion and discussed the fact that there are Jews from so many different backgrounds, cultures, countries around the world. The children then created something to symbolise this, from friendship bracelets to represent the different streams of Judaism working together, model Synagogues, shields of coexistence, Jewish diversity poetry etc. We also spent some time learning about Kamsa and Bar Kamsa, and discussing respectful disagreements (machloket). It was a really special day.
