Year 5 at the Tate!

Wednesday 22nd May 2019

We had a fantastic time at the Tate Modern on Wednesday! We all thoroughly enjoyed the gallery tour led by Daniel, an Art Educator at the Tate. We started with Matisse and The Snail, thinking about animals. We then looked at Anish Kapoor and begun our initial cut out work. Next, we looked at the work of Bridgett Riley to think about nature and evolve our cut outs into larger collages. Finally we saw Monet’s Water Lilies. We then returned to our studio for the morning to create our own collages based on the works of these artists. The children were all very well behaved, engaged and participated enthusiastically in all discussions and activities. A HUGE thank you to all our parent helpers - we could not have done the trip without you and we hope you enjoyed it as much as we did!
