Black History Month

Please enter an introduction for your blog post here.

This week, we celebrated Black History Month and the amazing people that have inspired us and shaped the world we know today. We explored the ‘Talking Turkeys’ poem by Benjamin Zephaniah and analysed an extract from the book ‘Noughts and Crosses’ by the author Malorie Blackman. We watched a re-enactment of Rosa Parks taking action and standing her ground when subjected to racism on the bus. We listened to a variety of music and explored art inspired by Black African culture, such as: Aretha Franklin, Billie Holiday, Bob Marley and Harry Belafonte. We also learnt about Floella Benjamin and listened to her talk about the ‘Windrush’ generation.
